Kiddos.

Don't you just want to pinch their little cheeks?

And yes. That is a potato bug she is posing with in every single picture.
They're always cute.
But this week they have been extra cute and extra funny.
I've gotten about five different invitations to their birthday parties that are months away.
Nina said she wished she could take me home with her everyday.
Navi told me when I sing I sound just like Rapunzel.
If only that were the truth.
And Conner asked me if I could be his girlfriend.
Man I love these kiddos.

Quote of the Week.

The only way to have a friend is to be one
{Ralph Waldo Emerson}

The Pit and the Peak of a Monday.

{the pit} I start my summer math class tomorrow. Boo. Actually, let me rephrase that... I start my 810 dollar math class tomorrow. Yes, 810 dollars just for ONE class. What. A. Joke. Promise me having to pay this ridiculous amount of money for one stinking class and for one of my most least favorite subjects in the whole entire world is going to bug me for the rest of my life. Promise. At least I'm getting my math classes out of the way right? Yes, think positive.

{the peak} Guess who's leaving to California Thursday night for four days? Me, me, me! And I couldn't be more excited. It's just gonna be me, my sister, my dad and the Mustang on the open road. Yes, please! We're going to visit my Dad's side of the fam...but mostly to see my Grandpa Hernandez. Love that sweet little Mexican man. He also has a really cool but incredibly hard to understand accent. I love him oh so much. On the way back we're going down to San Fransisco just so I can check off something on my bucket list...ride a cable car. Road trip? Don't mind if I do.

Harry Potter.

I have this thing where I don't like to do things if everyone else and their dog is doing it.
Feathers in the hair? Cute. But no thanks.
Glittery toms? Pass.
Obsession with Twilight? Nah.

But yet I find myself completely enthralled with something everyone in the world loves.
Harry Potter.
I always told myself never will I have anything to do with reading any of the Harry Potter books.
But here I am reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and I plan on reading all of them.
J.K Rowling is a brilliant writer by the way.
My favorite part is reading it in a British accent.
I always told myself I would never watch and love the movies.
But I may or may not have just finished the first movie, am now watching the second movie and plan on watching all the movies before July 15th.
I have my recent trip to Florida when we went to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to blame for this one.
That place is pitch amazing.

Nina Bo Beana and Some Lovin.

Isn't she the cutest?
She has a thing with ears.
Weird huh?
She sits on my lap like this for hours and hours and just plays with my ear while she sucks on her thumb.
I think it makes her feel safe.
And I don't mind it at all.
Because it makes me feel loved.

Speaking of lovin'...

Don't tell me that's not thee cutest thing you've ever seen.
I've caught my kids like this two days in a row now.
And I absolutely love it.
Makes me feel good and accomplished as a teacher.
Like the million times a day I tell them to not hit one another or to be nice to each other is actually paying off.
Like I'm not forcing them to love each other, they're doing it all on their own. Cause they want to.

Lilly the Potato Bug.

Meet Lilly the potato bug.
It's a girl potato bug.
How do I know?
Because Jayde said so.
And no, this one was not dead this time.
Although when we went to go inside she informed me that Lilly had sadly died.
Maybe because Jayde would set Lilly on the picnic table and smack the table as hard as she could until it uncurled from its little ball.
Pretty sure she scared it to death. Literally.

Quote of the Week.

People are often unreasonable and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you.
Be honest anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be good enough.
Give your best anyway.
For you see in the end, it is between you and God.
It never was between you and them anyway.
{Mother Teresa}

The Pit and the Peak of a Sunday.

{the pit} My new singles ward is not so great.
Because, a. It's at nine in the morning. So bum early. I'm sorry, but who in the world has a singles ward at nine in the morning? I may or may not have gotten up late and so I missed the first part of church today. My bad.
and b. I have never been to a more irreverent church in my whole entire life. First I just thought I was being picky and everyone just happened to be irreverent the Sunday I happened to be there. Boy was I wrong. This Sunday turned out to be no different. Everyone chats thee whole entire time. Yes- even through sacrament. I mean if you're going to chat at least have the courtesy to whisper. Or how bout since we're all adults here we try out the whole being reverent thing and don't talk at all...Just sayin.

{the peak} Nothing brings me more joy than Sunday naps. For some reason I can sleep for hours and hours on Sunday. Last Sunday I passed out and took a four hour nap. It was fantastic. Speaking of naps...my bed is calling my name.

Family Time.

Sometimes no, actually a lot of times I regret taking my extended family for granted.
I hardly ever get to see them anymore and I miss it.
My aunt called and asked if I would stay with her kids and I couldn't think of a better way to spend a Friday night.
Papa Johns pizza, playing outside, laughing, Despicable Me, popsicles, playing Guess Who a million times and singing to music.
I loved all of it.
My favorite part of the night was when I went inside to get the pizza and I came back out and the first thing my cousin asked me when I got in the car was if I just got back from Mexico.
Racist? Yes.
But I loved it and laughed all the way home.
Infact I still catch myself giggling about it.

Man I love this kid.
Seems just like yesterday I was changing his little bum bum and now he's toothless and bleeping out the swear words to rap songs.

The Pit and the Peak of a Tuesday.

{the pit} Auntie Flow is in town. Ugh. That means a whole lotta sleeping and a whole lotta grumpiness.

{the peak} "Miss. McCall, have you ever been to Bowdabundga Bay?" She meant Cowabunga Bay, I'm pretty sure. Such a big word, for such a little girl!

Quote of the Week.

Graduation Day.

I'm feeling extra old today.
It was graduation day for my brother.
And I couldn't have been more happy and excited for him.
I remember sitting in that exact stadium, ready to conquer just about anything and everything.
This means I've been graduated for three years.
Yes, three.
Where does the time go?!!

Three years ago today.....
I was a freshman in college.
I was ecstatic to live on my own.
I hated being around my family (not my proudest moment)
Everyday was a party with my roommates.
Life was simple(r)
Ramon Noodles was what I called dinner.
All my friends were getting ready to leave on missions.
I was living in the bum hole that people call Raintree.
I was learning who my true friends were.
